Anthropic introduced Claude for Small Business on May 13, 2026, a packaged set of connectors and ready-to-run workflows that put Claude inside the software small businesses already use, starting with Intuit QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365. The product is a toggle install inside Claude Cowork, and Anthropic said it ships with 15 agentic workflows and 15 skills spanning finance, operations, sales, marketing, HR, and customer service. Anthropic framed the launch as part of its public benefit mission, arguing that tools and training have rarely been tailored to how small businesses operate, so their use of AI has often stopped at the chat window.
What the product does
Claude for Small Business is delivered through Claude Cowork. A user toggles it on, connects the tools they already use, picks a job, and approves each step before anything sends, posts, or pays. The workflows and skills Anthropic highlighted include planning payroll against QuickBooks cash positions and incoming PayPal settlements, building a 30-day forecast, queueing invoice reminders, reconciling books for a monthly close, drafting a plain-English profit and loss statement, surfacing cash position and sales trends on one page, and finding slow revenue stretches in HubSpot before generating campaign assets in Canva.
Other named skills include an invoice chaser, margin analyzer, month-end prepper, tax-season organizer, contract reviewer, lead triager, and content strategist.
How each connector is used
- PayPal powers settlements, invoicing, disputes, and refunds inside Claude.
- Intuit QuickBooks handles payroll planning, the monthly close, cash-flow, tax season preparation, and reconciliation.
- HubSpot runs lead triage, customer pulse, and campaign attribution.
- Canva generates content for every channel, with team collaboration, publishing, and performance tracking.
- Docusign sends contracts out for signature, tracks status, and files the executed copy back where it belongs.
Anthropic noted that the full list of skills, automations, and connectors is on the product’s solutions page.
Why Anthropic is targeting small businesses now
Anthropic cited a figure that small businesses account for 44% of U.S. GDP and employ nearly half the private-sector workforce, but have lagged larger enterprises in AI adoption. Daniela Amodei, Co-founder and President of Anthropic, said small businesses make up nearly half the American economy but have never had the resources of bigger companies, and that AI is the first technology that can finally close that gap. She added that Claude for Small Business runs inside the tools owners already rely on and takes on work that piles up after hours.
Customer reactions in Anthropic’s announcement included Brian Ludviksen, COO of Purity Coffee, who said the product problem-solved for him and showed him problems he did not know he had. Mike Beckham, CEO of Simple Modern, said hours of looking at stuff that does not matter are gone and that he wants an entire organization where everybody is using these tools daily. Ryan Olson, Technology and Innovation Manager at MidCentral Energy, said it frees up tedious clerical work for more value-add tasks.
Partner statements on the integrations
Joe Preston, VP of Product Management at Intuit QuickBooks, said QuickBooks has been proud to be the trusted financial partner for small and mid-market businesses for decades, and that integrating the agentic AI capabilities of the QuickBooks platform into Claude for Small Business gives small businesses AI-powered automations to manage their finances, accelerate payroll, and generate data-backed insights.
Angela DeFranco, GM and VP of Product for HubSpot’s Marketing Hub, said HubSpot partnered with Anthropic to build the first CRM connector for Claude so go-to-market teams can access their HubSpot context wherever they work, with tailored answers, summaries, and visualizations to help small businesses segment smarter and run better campaigns.
Anwar Haneef, GM and Head of Ecosystem at Canva, said the integration lets a business owner go from idea to published, on-brand design in one flow, calling it part of Canva’s vision to make complex AI workflows simple.
Trust and data handling
Anthropic said a survey it ran with small business owners found half named data security as their single biggest hesitation about AI. The company’s trust claims for the product are: every task and workflow is initiated by the user; the user approves the plan first or lets it run end-to-end when ready; existing permissions hold, so if an employee cannot see something in QuickBooks or Drive today, they cannot see it through Claude; and Anthropic does not train on customer data by default on Team and Enterprise plans, with full details in its Trust Center.
AI Fluency for Small Business course
Anthropic said tools alone are not enough, so it partnered with PayPal on AI Fluency for Small Business, a free online course on using AI to run a small business. The course is taught by owners who have built AI into their own operations, including Prospect Butcher Co. in Brooklyn and MAKS TIPM Rebuilders in California, and covers topics such as identifying which tasks in a business are right for AI and how to get started. Amy Bonitatibus, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at PayPal, said PayPal is equipping small and medium-sized business owners with the tools, expertise, and trusted infrastructure they need to compete in a rapidly evolving digital economy. The course is available on-demand.
The Claude SMB Tour
Starting May 14 in Chicago, Anthropic and partner Tenex.co are taking Claude for Small Business on the road. The tour is a free, half-day live AI fluency training and hands-on workshop for 100 local small business leaders per stop. Attendees receive a one-month Claude Max subscription to start integrating AI into their day-to-day workflows. Spring stops include Chicago, Tulsa, Dallas, Hamilton Township, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Salt Lake City, Baltimore, San Jose, and Indianapolis. Anthropic thanked the Greater Cleveland Partnership and the National Talent Collaborative for piloting the concept in March, and said more cities will be added in the fall.
Nonprofit and CDFI partnerships
Anthropic said it is investing in partnerships that put Claude directly in the hands of small business owners and the organizations that help them grow. Together with Workday and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), Anthropic is supporting the Workday Foundation Solopreneurship Accelerator Program, which in 2026 will equip an initial cohort of 15 aspiring solopreneurs with seed funding from the Workday Foundation, Claude credits from Anthropic, and an AI-first entrepreneurship curriculum developed by LISC.
Anthropic also named three Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) it is partnering with: Accion Opportunity Fund, Community Reinvestment Fund USA, and Pacific Community Ventures. These CDFIs are deploying AI in their own operations and services, with Claude credits and hands-on technical support from Anthropic. Pacific Community Ventures, for example, is using Claude to power its Radiant Data Hub, a shared resource for a network of CDFIs, to collect and synthesize voice-based feedback from its small business clients and their workers.
