After her doctoral work, she served as a visiting scholar at Istituto di Elaborazione dell’Informazione in Pisa, Italy. She subsequently worked as an assistant professor in mathematics at Lake Forest College in Illinois. In 1985, she received a research fellowship and a National Science Foundation research grant. She continued her research and teaching at the Center for Mathematical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 1991, she moved to Denver, Colorado, where she joined the faculty in the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Metropolitan State College of Denver.
