Milwaukee Irish Dance Studio

Milwaukee Irish Dance Studio is a dance studio in Shorewood, WI, offering Irish dance instruction for all ages and abilities. Founded by the Milwaukee Irish Dance Company (MIDC), the studio provides an accessible and enjoyable environment where dancers can learn from professional teachers, take part in a variety of classes, and pursue both performance and competitive opportunities.

The studio was established in 2019 when Elyse Transon, who grew up Irish dancing in Milwaukee, teamed up with Mary Youssi, TCRG, to open a school for students of all ages. Transon began her professional dance career during her senior year at the University of Minnesota, working as a company dancer, principal dancer, dance captain, choreographer for national touring productions, tour manager, and workshop teacher. Her career has taken her across the United States, including a performance at the US Capitol for President Joe Biden, as well as to Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Zambia, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Canada. In 2014, she formed MIDC as an inclusive adult performance company, which eventually led to the opening of the studio. The staff includes owner and ADCRG Elyse Transon; studio manager and TCRG Kendal Griffler; instructor and TCRG Amanda Krasowski, who also coordinates adult programs; workshop teacher and TCRG Joe Duffey, founder of District Irish Dance; instructor Molly Schmitt, early programs coordinator; instructor Celeste Keyes, performance coordinator; and Cara Connors, costume and competition coordinator. Beyond regular classes, the studio hosts Jigs & Swigs: The Irish Dance Workout, a social Irish dance fitness experience held at various breweries in the Milwaukee area, and offers studio rentals for those looking for dance space in Milwaukee.

The studio is located at 3555B N Oakland Ave, just off North Oakland Avenue and about a tenth of a mile from River Park, with Hubbard Park and Shorewood High School roughly a third of a mile away.
