In 1990, he began training under Master Morio Higaonna, a Saiko Shihan or Supreme Master in the Goju-Ryu lineage. Under Higaonna's guidance, Sensei Villa has become one of the most respected Goju-Ryu instructors in the United States. He currently holds the rank of Hachidan, an 8th degree black belt. The school’s curriculum is rooted in the philosophy of Goju-Ryu, which emphasizes balance and harmony, combining hard and soft techniques derived from the Naha-Te style of Okinawa.
