The style traces its lineage through successors such as Masatoshi Nakayama and Hirokazu Kanazawa. Instruction emphasizes the physical and mental aspects of the art, drawing on the philosophy that Funakoshi experienced while listening to pine waves on Tiger’s Tail Mountain. The site notes that the style became the most widely practiced form of Karatedo today. The business name Shotokan Karate-do Taka Ryu reflects the specific Ryu or school of practice taught.
