Dirt Learning

Dirt Learning is a daycare in West Haven, Utah, located at 3547 S 4700 W. The facility operates as a nature-based preschool serving children ages 2.5 to 6 years old. The program features two thoughtfully designed classrooms, consisting of one indoor space and one outdoor space, where play serves as the foundation for academic learning.

The preschool's approach is grounded in child-led exploration and play-based learning, drawing inspiration from philosophies such as Anji Play. Rather than directing every activity, educators observe and respond to the individual interests and needs of each child to foster independence, resilience, and social-emotional skills. This method allows academic concepts like counting, measuring, and investigating to develop naturally through movement and nature. In addition to the preschool program, Dirt Learning offers summer camps for children ages 2.5 to 11 and monthly screen-free play nights for children.

Founder and lead facilitator Christi Green Warr leads the program alongside a team of play-based facilitators. She holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and has over 28 years of experience working with children and youth, including a background in special education and parenting instruction. The curriculum is designed to support the whole child, socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively, by providing the time and space necessary for children to problem-solve and follow their own curiosity.

Dirt Learning sits on S 4700 W in West Haven, Utah, about a fifth of a mile from 4700 West. The facility is located near Green Farm Community Center and The Barn, both roughly a quarter mile away.
