Founded in 2011 by Delfino Garza, Jr. and his wife Nora, the Dos Rios Vineyard began as a family farm adjacent to the Rio Grande and the Rio San Juan, a location that inspired the winery’s name. The first harvest of Black Spanish Le Noir grapes occurred in June 2012, marking a milestone for the region’s emerging wine industry. Since then, the vineyard has expanded, integrating support from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and the USDA. The Tasting Room, officially opened on March 22, 2024, drew a standing-room-only crowd and has since hosted the Bessie III trolley tour, offering guided visits to the winery.
