Elk Haven is a Camping Ground in Keystone, SD, located at 24656 Iron Mountain Rd. The property was established in 1939 by Elis Albery and his sons, Vern and Vergil, originally operating as the Iron Mountain Cafe. The family constructed four single-room cabins and a wash and shower house. During the off-season, Mr. Albery guided elk and deer hunts, boarded hunters in the cabins, and sold milk, cream, butter, chickens, and eggs year-round. Josh and Jackie Stuart purchased Elk Haven in 2021. They come from horse backgrounds and are entrepreneurial. Jackie runs a business creating custom horse halters, mohair cinches, and breast collars. Josh is a leatherworker who makes horse gear, gun holsters, knife sheaths, belts, and chaps, and performs saddle repairs. He also works as a farrier and handles maintenance for the camp. The Stuart family breaks and trains their own horses and accepts outside horses for training services.
