Founded by Helen Rutledge in 2019, Bibelot Home began as an antique and vintage home goods store before pivoting to focus on custom lampshades after noticing a market need for replacement shades that were difficult to find. Each shade is handcrafted by artisans in a Charleston workshop, with designs available in coolie, empire, drum, chandelier, and pendant shapes. Customers may choose from a curated selection of textiles or provide their own fabric, with an estimated lead time of two weeks. The design team contacts clients within one business day to finalize details like pleating and hardback styles.

The company offers distinct collections, including the Luminary Collection, which features handcrafted artistry, and the Illume Collection, which showcases pure linen hand block-printed fabrics using traditional Indian techniques. Specific designs include the "Ujala" empire shade with sage green cotton herringbone trim, the "Bodhi" drum shade with light gray cotton herringbone trim, the "Prabha" empire shade with gold herringbone trim, and the "Kiran" empire shade in merlot and sage. The business is located at Building 44Fritz Porter Showroom, 2060 N. Hobson Ave, 2nd Floor, North Charleston, SC 29405, where it collaborates with the designer collective Fritz Porter to access handmade designer textiles.
