The academy holds a rating of 5.00 based on one review. Founded by Tina Heaps, an extensively certified and endorsed NRA Instructor, Heaps Tactical grew from a 2014 idea into a training business built on a mission of self-preservation, crime prevention, and marksmanship. After surviving crime and domestic violence herself, Tina turned her experience into purpose, and her real-world perspective drives every course she teaches. She is a Myrtle Beach local with more than 14 years of experience and over 11 years in firearms experience, and she is the only NRA-Certified Refuse To Be A Victim Instructor in the area. Her classes are catered and custom-created for each student, as no person is the same with proficiency, and they cover everything from drawing from a holster or concealed carry purse and proper firearm storage to breathing techniques, stance, Arc of Movement control, sighting in scopes for distance shooting or hunting, and identifying a potential threat before an event happens. The SC Concealed Weapons Permit Class allows students to send their packets into SLED after one class and obtain a permit to carry a firearm concealed in 36 states. Outside of training, Tina enjoys time with her family, fishing, camping, relaxing by a fire, and walking the beach with her husband and daughters. The academy is located at 201 Marsh Hawk Dr, about 0.3 miles from Carolina Bays Parkway, 0.4 miles from The Meadows of 707, 0.5 miles from Tern Hall, 0.8 miles from Mill Creek, 1.1 miles from Socastee Recreation Park, and 1.2 miles from Burgess Elementary School. She is praised for sharing her tactics, knowledge, tips, and personal life experiences, and for working with inexperienced shooters. Her teaching style is engaging, empowering, and rooted in real-life application, and her reputation reflects a positive rating from the customers who have reviewed her.
