Freewoods Farm

Freewoods Farm is a farm in Myrtle Beach, SC, dedicated to preserving and celebrating the legacy of African-American farmers through education, documentation, and living history. As the only African-American historical living farm museum in the United States, it serves as a vital cultural and educational resource, highlighting the contributions of Black farmers to American agriculture from the 1600s to the present. Located in the Burgess community, the farm offers immersive experiences rooted in historical farming practices and sustainable agriculture. It produces and sells organic sugar cane syrup made entirely from sugar cane grown on-site, cooked in an open kettle with no additives or preservatives. The farm is accessible to visitors from Myrtle Beach and surrounding areas, with its offerings available November through December.
