LowCountry Swim School- Charleston

LowCountry Swim School- Charleston is a swimming school in Mt Pleasant, SC. The Lowcountry Aquatic Project Swimming (LAPS) program provides water safety and swimming instruction to kindergarteners and first graders in Charleston County Title 1 schools. The program aims to drown-proof students in the Charleston County area by building a community of swimmers who can enjoy their local environment.

The organization provides swim aids, caps, bags, extra towels, and swimsuits for its students. Instruction is delivered through a proven curriculum using a 5:1 child-to-teacher ratio, with lessons taught in eight thirty-minute sessions divided between the fall and spring semesters. LAPS instructors are certified in CPR, First Aid, and Swim Lessons University. Originally established in 2012 as an outreach program of the Logan Rutledge Children's Foundation, the organization became its own 501(c)3 entity in 2017. The program works in partnership with the Charleston County School District, the City of Charleston, and Boeing to provide vital swimming and safety programs.

LowCountry Swim School- Charleston is known for its commitment to the community, having previously served 1,400 children and 14 schools. The program's dedication to student progress is reflected in its use of data collection based on individual skill achievement to ensure children become safe, happy swimmers.
