Mill Village Farms

Mill Village Farms is a farm in Greenville, SC. The nonprofit urban farm grows fresh produce and creates employment opportunities within the city’s historic mill neighborhoods. It serves residents of Greenville County through its Garden & Food Education program, the FoodShare fresh‑food box service, including a Spanish‑language option, and youth development and employment initiatives. Since its founding, the farm has expanded its garden beds, seasonal produce, and community workshops, reaching customers across the Greenville area. The organization’s mission is to connect and improve the community by farming, distributing healthy produce, and training a youth workforce. As part of Mill Village Ministries, the farm operates under the leadership of Executive Director Dan Weidenbenner, who launched the ministry in 2012 after moving to Greenville. Mill Village Farms began on Sullivan Street in the Greater Sullivan community, where volunteers built 30 garden beds, a greenhouse, and a commercial kitchen. In 2025 the operation relocated to a new hub at 1186 Pendleton Street, expanding its garden space and continuing to offer educational classes, workshops, and the FoodShare program that provides free delivery and a complimentary first box for new SNAP customers.

Located on Pendleton Street, the farm sits about a tenth of a mile from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Central Annex. It is also within a short walk of the Truist Culinary & Hospitality Innovation Center and West Greenville School, and just a few blocks from the Gallery at West Greenville and the public artwork Spindle.

By blending urban agriculture with job training and food education, Mill Village Farms strengthens Greenville’s food system and offers residents a local source of fresh produce and meaningful employment opportunities.
