Dorr Farms

Dorr Farms is a farm in Gable, SC. The family-owned operation offers seasonal U-Pick activities where visitors can harvest strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and pumpkins directly from the plants. Strawberries are available from mid-March through the end of May, while blueberries and thornless blackberries are picked during the May and July windows. Pumpkin picking runs from late September through October, offering produce in various shapes, sizes, and colors for decorating or baking. Beyond the harvest, the farm features a playground, animal feeding areas, seasonal events, and a farm store that sells local produce and vegetables. The farm also maintains a resource for visitors to check what is currently in season in the local area.

The history of Dorr Farms begins in 1991 when Maynard and Marie purchased 25 acres, a tract that has since doubled in size. Before establishing the farm, Maynard worked in a manufacturing plant and Marie worked at Piggly Wiggly. In 1996, when their first child was on the way, the couple decided to build two turkey barns to raise turkeys for Prestage Farms in Cassatt, SC. Each flock started with approximately 20,000 two-hour-old poults in brooder houses, which then moved to grow-out houses for finishing. This turkey operation supported the family for many years. Marie grew up on a hog farm in Home Branch, and the farm now features cows grazing on the land. The current farm was built from the ground up by Maynard and Marie with the help of friends and family.

Located on Dorr Acres Rd, the farm is situated about 1.4 miles from Mayewood Middle School. It is approximately 2 miles from Gable Highway and the Black River Lookout Tower, and about 2.7 miles from Eastern School.
