House of Hope of the Pee Dee is a Restaurant in Florence, SC. Though classified as a restaurant, the organization functions as a faith‑based shelter and community hub that provides men, women, and children facing homelessness and addiction with basic necessities, safe lodging, and meals. Since opening its doors in 1990, it has offered nearly 20,000 nights of shelter each year and has served more than 90,000 meals, extending its reach throughout the Pee Dee region with a focus on physical, emotional, and spiritual care.

The organization’s mission is to meet basic needs, foster life transformation through faith in Christ, and secure sustainable housing within a supportive Christian community. Founded by Jean and Bill Fryar after witnessing a local shelter turn away dozens of homeless individuals in 1988, the ministry expanded from a men’s shelter in Effingham (1991) to include women’s and children’s programs in 2006, the Courtney McGinnis Graham Community Shelter in 2016, and the HOPE Village of 24 tiny houses for long‑term transitional housing in 2022. A staff of nearly 50 employees and a network of volunteers deliver education, life‑skills training, and biblical instruction in partnership with churches, nonprofits, and local businesses.
