The firm began operation on January 1, 2022, building on predecessor firms that have operated since 2003, when Mike Wilkes founded Michael Wilkes Law Firm, P.A. Dan Atkinson and Alex Joyner have spent their entire private practice careers working with Mike Wilkes, who has practiced law for more than four decades. The team includes two paralegals with more than twenty years of combined service, and the firm points to the longevity of its attorneys and staff as one of its defining strengths. Practice areas include professional liability, where the attorneys represent various professionals in complex litigation and arbitration; insurance law, where attorneys analyze policy language for insurers and insureds; business law, where clients are counseled toward strategic decisions suited to each situation; and aviation litigation, where attorneys respond quickly to emergencies and work with the regulatory issues facing aviation businesses. Recent additions to the team include Adelina V. Branescu, a Cornell and Emory graduate who joined the Charleston office from the 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office, and Emma L. Allison, a Furman and Duke graduate who joined the Spartanburg office from Texas practice. In November 2025, the firm obtained a voluntary dismissal of a client's claims despite an entry of default.
