Sudie E Back, PhD, MS

Sudie E Back, PhD, MS is a Psychiatrist in Charleston, SC. Dr. Sudie Back received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia in 2004. She then completed her postdoctoral training at MUSC in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences from 2004 through 2005. She joined the MUSC faculty in 2005 and is currently a professor and director of the NIH-sponsored Drug Abuse Research Training programs. Dr. Back is also a staff psychologist at the Ralph H. Johnson VA in the Substance Treatment and Recovery program. Her primary research interests focus on the treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder. She is involved in both psychosocial and pharmacologic treatment trials, as well as laboratory-based and neuroimaging studies. Her research is funded through NIH, the Department of Defense, and the VA. She is the prior and current recipient of a career development award, several R01s, an independent scientist award, and a Fulbright Scholar award in Australia.
