Rug Masters Inc

Rug Masters Inc is a Rug Store in Charleston, SC, located at 1001 Morrison Drive. The business specializes in the sale, cleaning, repair, and appraisal of Oriental and Persian rugs, as well as the supply of area rugs, stair runners, and custom rug pads. Operating under the guidance of Vicki Kammeyer and her son Kurt, the company serves the Lowcountry with a focus on high-quality natural rubber and felt pads, made-to-order textiles from American carpet mills, and expert restoration services. The store offers pick-up and delivery for cleaning services and provides certified appraisals for antique rugs.

Founded by Vicki’s father, Edward Shogry, nearly 70 years ago, Rug Masters Inc has a family tradition dating back to 1912. After their original Calhoun Street location was destroyed by Hurricane Hugo in 1989, the family moved to their current Morrison Drive site, expanding their inventory and establishing a dedicated cleaning facility. The business cleans over 6,500 rugs annually, utilizing on-location hand washing rather than steam cleaning or shampooing to protect delicate knotting and materials. Their four generations of industry experience allow technicians to handle every type of rug, with full insurance coverage from pickup to delivery.

The facility includes a state-of-the-art drying room and machinery for professional cleaning, repair, and restoration. Most damaged rugs can be restored to near-original condition, with repairs including reweaving damaged sections. A Certified Oriental Rug Appraiser is available to determine the value, age, and origin of investment pieces. In addition to cleaning and repair, the store stocks nylon, recycled plastic, smart strand, wool, and sisal rugs for indoor and outdoor use. They also hand-cut and custom-fit padding for rugs, including options for rugs placed over existing carpet.

Rug Masters Inc is known for its extensive selection of fine wool and silk rugs and its specialized cleaning capabilities. The business holds a rating of 4.7 based on 219 reviews. Customers frequently praise the knowledgeable and professional staff, the fair pricing, and the high-quality results of the cleaning and repair services. The store is recognized for its expertise in Oriental and Persian rugs and its commitment to longevity and aesthetic preservation.
