Richard William Rissmiller, Jr, MD

Richard William Rissmiller, Jr, MD is a pulmonologist in Charleston, SC. A specialist in both pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine, Dr. Rissmiller provides care for patients with pulmonary hypertension and sarcoidosis, as well as general inpatient and outpatient pulmonary needs.

Dr. Rissmiller completed his medical school, internal medicine residency, and pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Wake Forest University. Following a decade in North Carolina where he provided pulmonary and critical care services and participated in medical student education, he joined MUSC in 2013. He has played a role in expanding the sarcoidosis program and maintains a strong interest in medical education. His contributions to training have been recognized by the medical school, which designated him a master clinical teacher in 2014, and he received the Michael E. Assey Teaching Award for the Department of Internal Medicine in 2015.
