Pounce Cat Cafe + Wine Bar

Pounce Cat Cafe + Wine Bar is a Cafe in Charleston, SC, located at 283 Meeting Street. The venue operates as a cat cafe and wine bar where visitors can interact with rescue cats while enjoying beverages, beer, wine, and pre-packaged snacks. Since launching in December 2016, the business has helped over 4,500 cats and kittens throughout SC and Georgia find permanent homes. The establishment maintains a foster-based model, housing between 15 and 20 adoptable cats at any given time. These cats are never caged or crated and are provided by partner shelters, including Pet Helpers for the Charleston location and The Humane Society for Greater Savannah for the Savannah location. The cafe serves as a large foster home, reducing the burden on partner shelters and allowing them to dedicate more resources to saving animals across the Southeast. Reservations are highly recommended to guarantee a spot, as the cafe limits the number of visitors in the cat lounge at one time. Walk-in visitors are not accepted when the cafe is at maximum capacity. The minimum age for visiting is 12 years old, and guests aged 12 to 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The cafe does not allow visitors to bring their own cats. The cafe’s approach focuses on increasing the visibility of shelter cats by housing them in a friendly, comfortable space in the middle of the city. The facility is designed to allow cats to play, roam, and socialize, providing an enriching environment. Food and beverages are served in a separate area from the cat lounge to comply with health department regulations, and snacks are pre-packaged to ensure safety. The most active time for interacting with cats is early in the day or late at night. Weekends are the busiest times, while weekdays offer a quieter experience. The business holds a rating of 4.70 based on 1,049 reviews. This high rating and large review count reflect a strong local reputation and an established track record of customer satisfaction. Pounce Cat Cafe + Wine Bar combines its mission of cat adoption with a welcoming cafe environment, serving as a distinctive destination in Charleston for both animal lovers and those seeking a unique social outing.

The cafe sits on Meeting Street in Charleston, SC, just steps from The Noyer-Wildhagen House and the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium. It is also located near Washington Light Infantry and Theatre 99, with The Marion And Wayland H. Cato Jr. Garden about a tenth of a mile away.
