Imaging Arts Printing

Imaging Arts Printing is a photo printing service in Charleston, SC, located at 1038 Jenkins Road, Suite 110. The business specializes in high-quality art reproduction, canvas giclee printing, and printing on fine art watercolor papers. They serve professional visual artists, photographers, galleries, designers, and homeowners who want to display original artwork or restored family photos. Services include scanning film negatives, slides, and prints, as well as photo restoration for cracked, faded, or torn images. The shop works by appointment and uses an online scheduling system to manage availability.

The company maintains a quality-centric approach where every print is individually viewed and adjusted by a professional printer and photographer to ensure optimal brightness, contrast, and color fidelity. They use custom-built color profiles and archival materials to produce prints on gallery-quality canvas or various fine art papers, including textured watercolor, smooth watercolor, and luster or matte photo papers. Canvas prints are varnished and stretched by hand on custom-built 1 3/8-inch stretcher bars. The business also hand-makes custom wooden frames in Charleston to fit their canvas prints, offering options in black, brown, walnut, and white.

Imaging Arts Printing accommodates a wide range of customers, from full-time artists to beginners, handling both small and large format prints. Standard turnaround times are three to five business days for paper prints and five to seven days for canvas, with digitizing services typically taking one week. Rush services may be available when time permits. The business offers free test paper prints for first-time customers to verify quality before committing to larger orders. They accept images via email, direct upload, or file-sharing services like Dropbox and Google Drive.

The business operates with a personal, hands-on approach, ensuring that each image receives individual attention to present it at its best color, tonal range, and clarity. They do not process film but instead scan and print it, providing digital files on disk when requested. The owner, Steven, handles the printing, stretcher bar construction, and canvas stretching personally. The shop is open by appointment Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Imaging Arts Printing combines professional-grade giclee reproduction with handcrafted framing to deliver museum-quality artwork directly to Charleston residents and artists.
