Ibu Movement partners with women artisans globally, working through four strategies: providing a marketplace for their goods, strengthening the internal structure of artisan groups, challenging the assumption that handmade work by women in developing countries should be inexpensive, and building relationships between artisans and supporters through trips, speaking engagements, and workshops. About half of the offerings are designed in the Ibu Studio in collaboration with artisan groups, celebrating each culture's heritage and sustainable techniques; the other half are bought directly from artisan groups. Capacity-building grants provide equipment, supplies, workspace improvements, and training. The Ibu Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization governed by a board of directors.

Products include glass-beaded clutches designed in the Ibu Studio and hand-beaded in Guatemala, where the artisan partner Casa Guatemala received a grant to modernize its database and start a jewelry-making department; that group's 600 to 1,000 artisan partners belong to a dozen Mayan indigenous and linguistic groups. Other pieces include geometric brass and copper patina earrings made in Chile, and multi-strand necklaces of wooden prayer beads covered in silk sari remnants, handcrafted in India. Gift cards can be picked up in store, mailed, or delivered by email.

The showroom sits on King Street in downtown Charleston, steps from the Charleston Library Society and the American Gardens, and within a short walk of the Lenhardt Garden, the Preservation Society of Charleston, the King Street Antique District, and the Jonathan Jasper Wright Law Office historical marker.
