Horizons at Ashley Hall

Horizons at Ashley Hall is an educational program in Charleston, SC, dedicated to advancing educational equity through a tuition-free, all-girls summer enrichment experience. The program serves girls from rising 1st through rising 9th grade, offering a six-week curriculum focused on mathematics, STEM, literacy, social-emotional learning, the arts, and swimming. It operates on the campus of Ashley Hall in downtown Charleston and maintains long-term commitments to students, with 85% returning year after year. The program supports families throughout the year with monthly activities and additional resources, serving 122 students in 2025.

The program was founded in 2017 by the Ashley Hall Board of Directors with the goal of creating a lasting impact on educational access in the greater Charleston area. It launched in 2018 with 30 students and has since grown steadily, now enrolling over 100 girls annually. Horizons at Ashley Hall is independently funded and relies on community support to provide essential resources such as qualified teachers, classroom materials, swimming instruction, healthy meals, and field trips. The program emphasizes relationship-building, with staff and mentors working closely with students from kindergarten through high school to ensure long-term success.

Located at 172 Rutledge Avenue, Horizons at Ashley Hall sits just a short walk from Ashley Hall, the Rivers Library, Davies Auditorium, the Macaulay Museum of Dental History, and the Hospital Strike of 1969 memorial, landmarks that anchor the historic downtown Charleston district.
