Conductor's Institute of SC

Conductor's Institute of SC is a music training program in Charleston, SC. This intensive summer program serves both aspiring and experienced conductors through rigorous, hands-on training. The curriculum features daily podium time, an evening lecture series, and personal technical consultations. Participants engage with both classical and contemporary repertory, including works from published and commissioned composers.

With 50 years of history, the Institute has trained more than 1,600 conductors who now lead major, regional, community, youth, and academic orchestras worldwide. The program provides a no-nonsense tutorial led by a professional teaching faculty of conductors and composers with extensive experience in the professional, academic, and commercial music worlds. Fellows and Associates have the opportunity to conduct professional musicians and participate in two public concerts. The Institute also offers specialized programs such as the Discovery Program and Conducting for Composers, with sessions held on the campus of the College of Charleston.
