Chef's Collective is a Cooking School in Charleston, SC, located at 874 Orleans Rd Suite 2. The business operates a chef-led culinary studio offering hands-on cooking classes, private events, and workshops. It provides a fully equipped teaching kitchen where expert staff lead classes for all skill levels, as well as a fully licensed, SCDA-approved commercial commissary kitchen available for rent by caterers, private chefs, bakers, food truck owners, and small business wholesale food vendors. The space is also available for private rentals for events like bachelorette parties, birthday celebrations, and team-building activities, and welcomes other professionals to host plant classes, art sessions, or candle-making workshops.

The concept originated in 2017 when partners Katie Williams and Andrea met while working for a large catering company. Williams, a Charleston native and graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Portland, Oregon, and the College of Charleston, worked at Michelin-starred restaurants in New York and as head chef at a remote Alaskan lodge before launching Spiced! Culinary Creations in 2017. Andrea began in hospitality at age 15, managed the pastry department at Cru Catering in Charleston for six years, and launched AP Flour Dessert Co. in 2021. Frustrated by rented commissary spaces, Williams developed a business plan for a public workshop and invited Andrea to join her. The Spice Cabinet, now Chef's Collective, was born to provide a professional environment for culinary learning and small business growth.

Classes cover diverse topics including artisan filled pasta, sourdough, macarons, handmade tortillas, ramen, and Thai street food essentials. Registration closes at 2pm one day prior to the event. Most classes accommodate common food allergies and dietary restrictions, with guests encouraged to email [email protected] prior to booking. Classes typically run 2.5 to 3 hours, guiding participants step-by-step through the menu. Guests receive light bites and complimentary beverages upon arrival, are provided aprons and tools, and enjoy the prepared meal together or take home leftovers. Standard classes require attendees to be 16 years or older, though family-friendly classes are occasionally offered.

The founders’ extensive backgrounds inform the studio’s approach, balancing precision with creativity. Williams brings international and American culinary knowledge from her travels and previous roles, while Andrea combines her expertise in baking with a passion for teaching. The space serves as a platform for local chefs, guest instructors, and the in-house team to share their unique perspectives. Private events are fully customized and include hands-on cooking, chef instruction, and a shared dining experience.
