Charleston Muay Thai and Boxing is a Martial Arts Gym in Charleston, SC. Located in West Ashley, it is the area’s only traditional Muay Thai and boxing gym. The facility offers 3,000 square feet of space, including roughly 1,200 square feet of mat space. Classes are provided for all genders and ages 3 and up. The gym supplies all necessary equipment, including Thai pads, boxing mitts, gloves, and shin guards.

Founder Jeff Grady discovered his passion for martial arts decades ago and moved to Thailand to immerse himself in the practice. After multiple professional fights, he returned to the Lowcountry to open the original Charleston Muay Thai. The gym has participated in hundreds of fights around the region and serves as an epicenter for sparring tournaments across the nation. It is a nationally recognized training gym for boxing competitors and has been featured in Health Links magazine. The gym is honored to be called the “Best Martial Academy in Charleston.”

Programming includes Muay Thai, which uses punches, kicks, knees, and elbows to enhance self-defense, physical conditioning, and hand-eye coordination. Boxing classes focus on upper-body punches and strength, teaching fundamentals of self-awareness and self-defense for everyone from newcomers to veteran competitors. Bags and Bells classes offer eight rounds on the bag followed by a workout routine using dumbbells or kettlebells. Participants can choose from a half-hour or an hour-long session. Kids’ classes teach techniques while building positive character traits like discipline, perseverance, and self-confidence. Competition opportunities are available but not required.
