Highland Campground

Highland Campground is a campground in Dalton, PA, located at 139 Gardeners Ln. It offers a rustic, wooded getaway for tent campers, RV travelers, and cabin stays. The property sits on 35 heavily wooded acres in Wyoming County, featuring old-growth forest, rolling hillsides, and diverse wildlife including owls, bobcats, raccoons, and black bears.

The business has been family-run for over 50 years. John and Ruth Walker established the campground in 1973, dreaming of a destination deep in the Endless Mountains with oversized sites surrounded by flora and fauna. The Walkers moved their family there to build their dream, creating the park from the heart despite having no prior knowledge of campground construction. In December 2002, the Mayer family purchased the business from the Walkers and has worked to maintain the original spirit of the park.

Visitors can choose from spacious sites or stay in one of the three available cabins. The cabins sleep four or five people comfortably on one full bed and two twin beds, with a maximum occupancy of six. Guests must bring their own bedding and cooking items, as the park only provides park-style grills. Cooking on the deck is prohibited due to fire hazards. The campground pool operates from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

Guests can inquire about local activities such as canoeing, kayaking, BMX racing, winery tours, and antiquing. The campground is near Scranton, Tunkhannock, Abington, and Clarks Summit. Local fishing and boating require permits. Guests are advised to store food and trash away to avoid attracting wildlife. Highland Campground can be reached at 570-586-0145 or via email.
