Owner Larry Zilbert has been involved in the jewelry business since 1981. A native of Beachwood, Larry received an Associate Degree in business from Broward College in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Upon returning to the Cleveland area, he worked as an assistant manager at Zale’s in the Richmond Mall store, where his passion for jewelry began. He later moved into wholesale distribution, partnering directly with jewelry and watch factories to sell to retail stores. In April 1988, Larry opened a retail store by first establishing a jewelry counter inside a Carls supermarket. After the supermarket chain closed, he founded Cleveland Jewelry Exchange across the mall from the former location.
