Montessori Day School of Brooklyn

Montessori Day School of Brooklyn is a Montessori school in Brooklyn, NY, located at 237 Park Pl. It has been a steady beacon of warmth, comfort, and learning in the community since 1976, teaching children aged two through kindergarten. We encourage every child’s natural curiosity and readiness to learn. The school serves children ages 2 through 5, divided into toddler and primary/mixed age classes, with seven classrooms in total. Each class is led by a team of three teachers, with class sizes appropriate to the ages of the children. The Montessori Day School of Brooklyn began in 1977 as a drop-in program for working families of the YWCA on Atlantic Avenue in downtown Brooklyn, where it operated until 2003, when the PTA formed a nonprofit organization to operate MDS as an independent school. In 2010, MDS moved from two locations (on Washington Avenue and out of Grace Church in Park Slope) to our current happy home at 237 Park Pl. While we serve families from many parts of Brooklyn, MDS has become part of the fabric of our Prospect Heights neighborhood.
