Englewood Krav Maga is an affiliate of the Rhon Mizrachi Krav Maga Federation and SHEEPDOG RESPONSE. Krav Maga, which translates to contact combat, is an Israeli martial art designed for street use where rules do not exist. The curriculum teaches students to utilize natural reflexes and efficient movements to neutralize attackers quickly. Training emphasizes striking vulnerable targets such as the groin, eyes, and nose using punches, kicks, elbows, and knees. Students learn to move from passive to aggressive immediately and are taught not to rely on strength against strength, but rather to level the playing field regardless of size or fitness level. Classes also focus on situational awareness to help individuals recognize and remove themselves from dangerous situations before they become physical.

The school offers specialized programs for different demographics. Women’s training focuses on practical skills to handle real-world threats, building confidence, physical strength, and improved reflexes. Children’s classes are available for ages three through fourteen. Programs for younger children ages three to seven focus on concentration, listening skills, coordination, and physical fitness. Classes for older children ages eight through fourteen teach strikes and self-defense techniques at a faster pace, including escaping chokes, hair pulls, and grabs. The curriculum addresses bullying, teaching students to use their voice first and physically defend themselves only when necessary. Controlled contact is used in training to help students overcome freezing or shutting down during an attack.

Englewood Krav Maga provides a Close Quarters Fight Course through its SHEEPDOG RESPONSE Affiliate status. This course covers edged weapon defense and deployment, close-range handgun defense and deployment, fighting in confined spaces, and standing clinch domination. It is designed for law enforcement, military members, and responsible citizens. The school requires pre-registration for all classes.
