Newman Signs was founded by Harold Newman in 1956. Mr. Newman began the business in his mother-in-law’s garage painting signs to pay for college tuition. Upon graduation, Newman moved the business to Jamestown, ND where it is today. Newman Signs initially concentrated on billboards and only had eight employees in 1972, which turned out to be a turning point in the company’s history. Driven by a commitment to meet the evolving needs of its partners, Newman steadily expanded its capabilities across the country. The company grew through strategic acquisitions, adding full-scale manufacturing for traffic and roadway safety, launching state-of-the-art large-format printing facilities, and growing its billboard coverage.
