The company was founded by Brandon Branscome and John Bacon, both Winston-Salem natives and graduates of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Their passion for brewing began as homebrewers in 1997, eventually leading to success in various competitions. The brewery's foundation is built on award-winning styles, including American IPA, Wood Aged Beer, and Spiced Beer. Notably, one of their brews earned first place in the IPA category at the 2016 Masters Championship of Amateur Brewing, a national competition. In addition to their taproom offerings, they provide premium beer programs through Ember's Society and the Ashes Club.
