The Venue began in 2008 when Kim Avery started painting small items at her kitchen table, a hobby that grew through word of mouth and referrals. In February 2011, local designer Cathi Davis opened a small artist consignment shop in Greenville to promote local talent. After six months, as demand from Davis’s design clients increased, she asked Avery to take over the business. Avery revamped the hours to open Wednesday through Saturday in October 2011, later adding Monday and Tuesday. The shop started small, without a computer or phone line, and gradually expanded by updating the building’s exterior and adding a back porch and another room for shoppers.

As the business grew, Avery outgrew her garage and backyard painting barn, leading her to rent a warehouse space for storage and painting. This opportunity inspired her to transform an empty building just two blocks from the original shop. Despite obstacles such as city regulations, traffic patterns, and financial challenges, Avery renovated the space, adding a front porch, tin awning, and three showrooms. The Venue now offers a selection of vintage and antique items, along with custom painting, upholstery, and sewing services, including monogramming. The store continues to serve the Greenville area with a focus on re-purposing and creating unique pieces.

The Venue - Vintage Shoppes & Antique Mall combines a rich history of local craftsmanship with a wide selection of vintage and antique furniture, making it a trusted destination in Greenville for those seeking unique, restored, or custom pieces.

The business sits on South Memorial Drive, just a short distance from Greenville Boulevard Southwest and about half a mile from the Greenville Country Club.
