Founded in 1979, Five Pines Ministries is situated on land that traces its history to an 1840 farm established by O.D. Snow, whose five large pine trees gave the property its name. Jim Scofield moved his family to the homestead in 1970, and the ministry was incorporated in 1979 to provide a space for spiritual growth and community outreach. The camp challenges youth to grow spiritually, socially, and emotionally through mentorship, nature, and adventure learning.

Programs include weekly meetings for high school and college-age youth, monthly outreaches, and organized camping opportunities. Staff members, including Summer Adult Leadership Team members and counselors, work to create an environment where guests can develop meaningful relationships with Christ and each other. The leadership structure includes the Summer Adult Leadership Team (SALT) for those 18 and older, senior counselors known as SONIC, and high school support staff known as HANDS.
