The winery is nestled in the farmland of Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve with Sugarloaf Mountain as a backdrop. The owners, Mark and Pam Giganti, lived in Upper Montgomery County for nearly 30 years before deciding to pursue winemaking. They attended Wine Camp and joined the Maryland Grape Growers and Maryland Wineries Associations. In 2013-2014, they planted a 1-acre test vineyard with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Four generations of the family worked the land during the harvest two years later. The family acquired the farm after their initial winemaking exceeded expectations and officially opened 61 Vineyard in October 2021. The name derives from 1961, the year the founders were both born.

The winery has won Governor’s Cup Wine Awards and is known for its warm, hospitable atmosphere. The owners pour their heart and soul into every bottle, supporting a local family’s retirement dream. Guests can explore different grape varietals and vintages in a charmingly rustic setting.
