The business specializes in professional area rug cleaning, restoration, and drapery care for the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region. Services include deep immersion cleaning for hand-knotted Oriental, Persian, Turkish, and antique rugs, as well as wool, silk, cotton, jute, sisal, and synthetic varieties. The team provides targeted stain removal for wine, pet accidents, smoke, and set-in stains, along with enzyme-based urine treatment and allergen extraction. They also offer structural repairs such as fringe repair, re-weaving, binding, patching, and color restoration by hand. Additionally, they clean residential drapes, sheers, and lined curtains, handling takedown, cleaning, pressing, and rehanging. The business has been serving the area for decades, with a family history in the trade spanning over a century since 1917. It holds a 5.00 rating based on customer reviews.

Operating from a dedicated 20,000 square foot facility, the company focuses exclusively on rugs and drapery rather than offering these as an afterthought to general carpet cleaning. Every rug undergoes an individual assessment to determine fiber content, dye stability, and wear patterns before any work begins. The cleaning process involves industrial mechanical dusting to remove embedded grit, followed by full immersion in pH-balanced, eco-friendly solutions matched to the rug’s specific fibers. After a thorough rinse to ensure zero residue, rugs are dried using industrial centrifuge spinners in a controlled environment to prevent shrinkage, mildew, and color migration. Final hand-grooming restores pile direction before the rug is wrapped and delivered. For pet-related issues, the team uses UV contamination mapping to locate hidden urine salts, applying enzyme treatments that break down uric acid crystals at the molecular level. Repair services utilize traditional hand-knotting and overcasting techniques to restore fraying fringe, unraveling edges, and moth damage with materials matched to the original rug’s construction.

The business is known for its positive rating from the customers who have reviewed it, reflecting the quality of its specialized care and attention to detail. With over 40 years of combined experience among its technicians, the team handles thousands of rugs annually, including irreplaceable heirlooms and antique pieces. The family-owned operation emphasizes preserving the value and authenticity of each piece, treating every rug as an irreplaceable heirloom.

Residential Rug Care combines its century-old family tradition with modern facility-based immersion cleaning to protect the integrity of fine area rugs and drapery for homeowners across the DMV.
