Since its founding by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1969, the hospital has expanded its capabilities to serve the people and families of Pointe Coupee for over fifty years. The 23-acre campus is home to a team of over 200 employees and includes physicians' offices, mental health services, public health, and the Council of Aging. The hospital's laboratory department is both CLIA-certified and JCAHO-accredited, ensuring accurate testing and superior patient care. Additionally, the campus features a walk-in rural health clinic, known as St. Joseph’s Medical Clinic of Pointe Coupee, which provides patient-focused care without the need for an appointment.

The hospital is located on False River Drive, situated near False River Academy School and the Louisiana Technical College Jumonville Campus.
