Dr. Saba earned his medical degree from the Lebanese University in Beirut in 2005. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN, and Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, followed by a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Tulane University. In 2011, he joined the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health for an additional fellowship in lymphoid malignancies, where his research focused on tumor biology and developing new therapeutic approaches for leukemia and lymphoma. He returned to Tulane in 2014 as Assistant Professor of Medicine, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2018, and became a Professor in 2024. His current research focuses on lymphoid malignancies and cell therapy to identify therapeutic targets and novel drugs. Dr. Saba has held leadership roles including chair of the immune effector cell therapy committee, co-chair of the Sarah-Cannon Lymphoma Committee, and President of the Louisiana Oncology Society. During his presidency, the Louisiana Oncology Society passed four bills signed into law in Louisiana, covering bone marrow donation, fertility preservation for cancer patients, right to prompt coverage, and expansion of biomarker testing. He has authored or co-authored more than 120 published manuscripts and research abstracts, with articles appearing in journals such as Blood, Leukemia, Cancer Research, The Lancet Haematology, Haematologica, Science Advances, and Bone Marrow Transplant.
