Heartland Music

Heartland Music is a music school in Terre Haute, IN. The school offers private lessons for kids and adults across piano, voice, strings, drums, saxophone, guitar, bass, upright bass, brass, and woodwind, with year-round enrollment and performance opportunities built into tuition. A free trial lesson is available with a refundable registration fee, and lessons can be scheduled and paid for online. Beyond instruction, Heartland Music rents band and orchestra instruments, performs repairs and maintenance on pianos, strings, woodwinds, and brass, and stocks books and supplies for school, lessons, and area musicians. Rehearsal and performance spaces are also available to rent. The school holds a rating of 4.80 from its customers.

The teaching team includes ten instructors covering the full range of instruments offered. Alexis Mumma teaches piano and voice, Cora Roark handles strings, Dan Lauby teaches drums, Larry Comer covers saxophone, Jonathan Coleman teaches piano, Michael Fenton and Sarah Nation teach guitar (with Fenton also covering bass), Eliot Crispin teaches upright bass, Corey Pine covers brass, and Pierce Hoff teaches woodwind. In operation since 2015, Heartland Music aims to provide area families with a community that fosters musical development and personal enrichment, with the goal of lifelong participation in the arts. Retail, rentals, and repair services round out the school's offerings for students and musicians throughout the region. Store hours run Monday through Friday from 3pm to 7pm, with Saturday and Sunday available by appointment.

Heartland Music sits on South 6th Street, just one block south of East Poplar Street and near the corner of 6th and Swan. The Vigo County Public Library is about a fifth of a mile away, and the Swope Art Museum is roughly a third of a mile from the school. Ohio Street and South 3rd Street run nearby, with Campbell Creek close at hand as well.
