Steinhafels traces its roots to 1934, when Arthur Mueller mentored John E. Steinhafel and they opened Mueller‑Steinhafel Furniture in Milwaukee. After Mueller’s passing in 1944, Steinhafel bought out his partner, renamed the firm Steinhafels Furniture, and relocated the store. Over the decades the company expanded, building a 40,000‑square‑foot store in 1959, opening additional locations in the 1970s, and establishing a 100,000‑square‑foot distribution center in New Berlin, Wisconsin. By the 1990s the third generation of the family joined the business, adding new stores in Madison and Kenosha and broadening the product line. A 420,000‑square‑foot headquarters and flagship superstore were later constructed at the I‑94 corridor, underscoring the company’s growth and commitment to offering extensive home‑furnishing choices.

With more than eight decades of experience, Steinhafels is recognized locally for its enduring legacy of quality furniture and service, supported by a broad inventory, flexible financing, and reliable delivery to residents of Vernon Hills.
