Green Light Driving School of South Elgin

Green Light Driving School of South Elgin is a driving school located at 105 N La Fox St in South Elgin, IL. Founded in 1997 by Chris and Lisa Pearson, the school has served the Fox Valley area for nearly three decades. The founders’ backgrounds in education, occupational safety, social work, law enforcement, and defensive-driving instruction shape the school’s emphasis on safety and professional instruction.

The school teaches driver education to teenagers and adults. Teenager students who turn 15 before the end of the classroom session may enroll. The school supplies all classroom materials, including pencils, paper, and books. Students receive an instruction permit application on the second day of class to take the written exam at the Secretary of State.

Behind-the-wheel lessons are scheduled at the student’s convenience to accommodate extracurricular activities. Students may schedule up to two lessons per month. Teen students are expected to complete at least 4-5 hours of practice driving on quiet residential roads with a parent or legal guardian before their first session.

The school is state-certified to administer the road test. Students who receive an A or B (80% or above) in the classroom, even at another school, can take the road test with Green Light Driving School. This allows them to skip the line at the Secretary of State. Road tests are completed in the school’s vehicles, so there are no personal vehicle compliance requirements. The school holds a rating of 4.70 based on customer reviews.

The school is on N La Fox St, about a tenth of a mile from the South Elgin Police Department and South Elgin Village Hall.
