Helping Hands Resale Shoppe was founded in 2010 as a way to support charitable work in a practical, ongoing way. The model relies on community participation: people donate goods, volunteer their time, and shop at the store so that the proceeds can be passed along. The organization's vision is a community sharing its possessions in order to give to those in need. Beyond the Peoria Heights location, the resale model operates in Chillicothe, Canton, and Pontiac, Illinois, raising funds across multiple communities.

The Peoria Heights store sits on East War Memorial Drive, about a tenth of a mile from Monroe Avenue Elementary School and the highway itself. Saint Thomas School is roughly four-tenths of a mile away, and an Administration Building sits about half a mile from the shop. North Prospect Road runs nearby at about four-tenths of a mile, and Carle Health FirstCare is within a third of a mile.

The shop's high rating reflects steady customer support for a nonprofit resale model that channels shopping and donations directly into charitable funding. Operating since 2010 and serving Peoria Heights alongside sister locations in Chillicothe, Canton, and Pontiac, it has built a track record of turning donated goods into sustained giving within the Peoria community.
