Studio 22 began in 2009 when owner Jackie founded the High Tek Dance Team as a place for young dancers in the area to explore competitive dance. The program started with just one team and has since grown to five competitive All Star teams ranging in all ages and skill levels. In 2012, the first High Tek Team competed at the National Dance Team Championship in Orlando, FL. In 2014, the studio created Company 22, a competitive dance company designed to expose dancers to the artistry and styles the dance industry has to offer while paying more attention to the individual dancer. The newest addition to the Studio 22 family is the Recital Program, created to remind dancers of the joy of performance. High Tek is an audition-only program where selected dancers are placed on teams based on age and skill level, training several days a week with mandatory classes and practice times. Dancers compete in styles like Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Pom, and Hip Hop. The studio also holds audition clinics for dancers born between 2007 and 2022, with a final audition held on Saturday, June 6th.

The studio sits on W Howard St, about half a mile from the Leaning Tower of Niles and Leaning Tower Plaza, and just off West Gross Point Road and North Caldwell Avenue.
