Smokey Bear of Evergreen Park

Smokey Bear is a Smoke Shop in Evergreen Park, IL, located at 8701 S Kedzie Ave. It holds a rating of 4.70 based on customer reviews.

The business draws its identity from the legacy of the Smokey Bear campaign, an initiative that began in 1944 when the USDA Forest Service, the National Association of State Foresters, and the Ad Council partnered with advertising agency Foote, Cone & Belding to rally Americans around wildfire prevention during World War II. Artist Albert Staehle created the first poster, and his signature phrase, “Remember... Only YOU Can Prevent Forest Fires,” was introduced in 1947. The campaign’s history includes the rescue of an orphan bear cub in 1950, which became the living symbol for the icon. Over the decades, Smokey has traveled to the International Space Station, appeared in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and been featured on stamps, posters, and merchandise. The campaign continues today with pro-bono support from BBDO, developing public service announcements to educate the public about preventing human-caused wildfires.

Proceeds from licensing fees go to the Smokey Bear campaign to be used for continued wildfire prevention education. Official Smokey Bear Licensees and Products are available through the National Symbols Cache and the National Association of State Foresters Store.
