Lyon Car Wash

Lyon Car Wash is a car wash in Darien, Illinois, serving drivers from Darien and the surrounding area. The business has been family-owned since 1967 and has spent 50 years serving the community that has been its customers. Its Darien location offers four self-serve bays open 24 hours, along with two touchless automatic washes. The self-serve bays include pre-soak, foam brush, wash soap, tire cleaner, high-pressure rinse, Tri-gloss, clear coat and spot free rinse, and each bay carries a step-by-step guide for choosing soaps. Vacuum cleaners are available, along with an interior shampooer that uses a hot foam carpet shampooer with scrubber and attached vacuum. The touchless automatic washes offer four levels: Basic, Basic Plus, Deluxe and Premier. Both the self-serve bays and the automatics accept American Express, Discover, Visa and Mastercard. Lyon Car Wash holds a rating of 4.10.

The business describes itself as one of the few self-serve car washes remaining in the area that also features completely touchless automatic washes, and it is open 24 hours. It is a member of the Chicagoland Car Wash Association and an American Express Shop Small supporter. Its stated goal is to provide a safe, reliable, clean and welcoming environment for customers and their cars, with a family-owned approach to customer service. The company history reaches back to 1965, when Jack Lyon and son-in-law Eddie Miller came up with the idea to develop 25 cent self-service washes.

The Darien location sits on Plainfield Road just east of Cass Avenue. The Old Lace School Museum is about four tenths of a mile away, as is Lace Elementary School, and Concentra Immediate Care is roughly two tenths of a mile from the wash.

Lyon Car Wash has built a positive reputation among the customers who have reviewed it, and its decades of family ownership in Darien are matched by a service mix that covers both the driver who wants to wash a car personally and the one who prefers to stay behind the wheel.
