Compelling Homes

Compelling Homes is a Kitchen Remodeler in Pleasant Hill, IA, located at 5650 NW Johnston Dr A. It holds a rating of 5.00 based on 10 reviews.

Since 2009, Compelling Homes has served as a full-service design-build contractor for homeowners across the Des Moines metro area, including Johnston, West Des Moines, Ankeny, Clive, Urbandale, and Waukee. The family-owned firm manages the entire remodeling process under one roof, offering custom kitchen transformations, bathroom renovations, basement finishes, home additions, and whole-home renovations. The company utilizes 3D software to provide color renderings, allowing clients to visualize their vision and provide feedback before construction begins. Their structured five-step process begins with a phone interview to discuss wants and needs, followed by an in-home meeting after reviewing an online pricing guide. The team then measures the existing home, recreates the original plan, and collaborates on a concept design. Clients are guided through a "shopping day" to select cabinets, countertops, flooring, lighting, and fixtures, after which the firm provides a professional estimate with an itemized list of allowances.

Rusty Green, the owner, was honored with the inaugural 2026 dsm Home Design Professional of the Year award, recognizing over 30 years of innovation and leadership in Central Iowa's home design industry. The team includes architectural designers Callie and Sayler, production manager Kent, project managers Nick and Mark, site superintendent Joel, and design coordinator Gracie. These professionals guide clients from initial consultation through final walk-through, providing daily onsite oversight. The firm handles complex requests, such as transforming unfinished basements into family areas with bars and workout rooms, and executing main floor scrambles. They have worked in diverse architectural styles, from 100% concrete homes to 90% glass homes and conventional construction from the 1900s onward.

The business is known for its high customer satisfaction, reflected in its perfect 5.00 rating from ten reviewers. Clients praise the team for their integrity, clear communication regarding budget and timeline, and attention to detail. The firm’s standing among local homeowners is strong, with many describing the experience as a premium design-build service that delivers on promises.

Compelling Homes brings its design expertise and construction management to Pleasant Hill and the greater Des Moines area, helping families create spaces that fit their daily lives.
