Abba House

Abba House is a thrift store in Perry, Georgia, and the retail arm of a residential recovery ministry for women and mothers with children. Abba House runs a 12-month residential recovery ministry for women struggling with life-controlling issues, including substance abuse, domestic violence, eating disorders, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking. The program is faith-based and Christian, focusing on the heart issues behind self-destructive behavior. Residents receive emotional stability support, life skills training, parenting classes open to all women in the program, family recovery work, and help earning a GED along with connections to further education. Applicants complete a physical and medical screening, a financial agreement, and a five-page life history letter, and must be free from drugs, alcohol, and psychotropic medications before admittance. The store supports the ministry through fundraising events held across the year, including a benefit dinner in February, a golf tournament in April, a 5k run in July, and a Rally for Recovery in September that welcomes bikes, trikes, sports cars, and jeeps.
