Soul Sugar Designs

Soul Sugar Designs is an interior design business in Dahlonega, Georgia, owned and led by Mary Catherine Rice. The studio offers full service interior design for residential and commercial spaces, E-Design conducted through online communication for clients who live farther away, home styling for smaller spaces, and coordination and decorating for weddings and other events. The work runs from initial design through installation and finishing touches, with the aim of helping clients find their own style rather than imposing a particular aesthetic.

Soul Sugar Designs began on June 19, 2021, after Mary Catherine Rice enrolled in design school and discovered interior design as her outlet. She serves as owner and lead designer, and she and her husband Isaac live in the North Georgia Mountains with their dog Scout; both grew up in the area. The business started as a dream she formed in college, built through design training and the support of her husband and dog.

The approach centers on discovering what each client wants and bringing it to life through direct communication, so that a chosen space becomes a design the client will cherish. Services span full service design, E-Design, home styling, and coordination and decorating, and the studio works with clients on residential or commercial projects as well as weddings and venue decorating.

The studio sits on South Grove Street in downtown Dahlonega, just off the square. The Yahoola Cherokee Museum is steps away, and East Main Street and North Grove Street are both within about a tenth of a mile. The Historical 1880 Jail is roughly a tenth of a mile from the studio, while the War Memorial and the Dahlonega Historic Gold Museum are each about two tenths of a mile away.
