Florida Fishing Outfitters operates as the online branch of four local tackle shops in central Florida: Lakeland Fishing Outfitters, St. Pete Fishing Outfitters, Tampa Fishing Outfitters, and Tarpon Fishing Outfitters. The parent company, Lee Fisher International, began in 1982 selling commercial fishing products nationwide. Popular brands developed by Lee Fisher International include Humpback cast nets, Joy Fish fishing tools, Ohero rods and reels, and the ISMART patented bucket system. The company opened its first retail tackle store in 2005, featuring over 5,500 square feet of inventory. It acquired the Tarpon Fishing Outfitters location in 2010, which allowed the store to service reels from within its own network. St. Pete Fishing Outfitters was renovated and opened in 2017, quickly becoming the leading tackle shop in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area. The newest location, Lakeland Fishing Outfitters, opened in 2022 in the building that previously housed the original Red Lobster restaurant. The store carries a variety of specialized equipment, including spinning, casting, and conventional saltwater reels, as well as rods, lures, terminal tackle, and various lines such as braided, monofilament, and fluorocarbon. Their inventory also includes saltwater nets, traps, aerators, and specialized tools like pliers, crimpers, and fillet tools.
