The vineyard spans 15 acres within a 40-acre historic farm, and all grapes are grown and processed on-site, making it one of the oldest wineries in Washington State and the only one on Bainbridge Island to use 100% estate-grown grapes. The tasting room is open Thursday evenings and Friday through Sunday, offering wine tastings, live music, seasonal festivals, and vineyard tours. Bainbridge Vineyards is a women-owned and women-led business, with Betsey Wittick serving as grape grower and winemaker since 1989. She holds a Master’s degree in Horticulture from Cornell University and is a pioneer in using draft horses for vineyard farming in Washington State. The winery is certified 100% organic and emphasizes sustainable, earth-centered practices rooted in regenerative agriculture. The winery’s history traces back to 1928 with the Suyematsu family farm, and the Bentryns established the vineyards in 1977 after studying viticulture abroad.
